Telluride Film Festival selects Barco

Rancho Cordova, CA — 2 September 2010 — Barco, a global leader in digital cinema technology, announced today that its projectors will be used to screen movies debuting at the world-renowned Telluride Film Festival in Telluride, Colorado, September 3-6, 2010. Cinedigm, as the Festival's Digital Cinema Advisor, invited Barco to provide its latest DP2K-32B projector, known as the “brightest projector on the planet,” for the Festival's spectacular showing of a yet unannounced 3D movie. In addition, Barco is also providing a DP2K-23B and a DP2K-20C for The Palm and Chuck Jones' Cinema venues showing other movies at the event.

“When we were asked to serve as the Festival's Digital Cinema Advisor, our first order of business was to procure projectors with strong performance, in particular for 3D, from a trusted source, so we naturally went with Barco. We've enjoyed a successful partnership with Barco for many years, prizing their dedication to not only producing technologically advanced solutions, but also providing excellent service and support to exhibitors,” said Adam M. Mizel, interim co-CEO of Cinedigm. Barco is an important partner to Cinedigm in the implementation of Cinedigm's Phase 2 digital cinema deployment program, which aims to convert up to 10,000 screens nationwide.

A veteran supplier to the world's most prestigious film festivals, including the Sundance Film Festival in the United States and the Berlin Film Festival in Germany, Barco is rolling out its latest, most advanced projectors for the Telluride event. The DP2K-32B features next-generation electronics ready for Texas Instruments' DLP Cinema® Enhanced 4K, ultra-brightness for screens up to 32 meters, long-term image quality thanks to a proprietary sealed engine and advanced DMD cooling, and the industry's lowest total cost of ownership. The DP2K family of projectors is also the first ever to pass a DCI compliance testing milestone – with the complete line of both DP2K “B” series and DP2K “C” series projectors recently achieving full DCI compliance – and the first to offer integrated CineCanvas™ subtitling. Combined with Barco's extended service offering featuring enhanced remote services, diagnostics and monitoring, the DP2K family of products is fast becoming the preferred digital projector solution for leading exhibitors worldwide.

“The Telluride Film Festival prides itself in embracing new, uncharted territory in the world of movies – discovering fresh talent and exploring new genres – as well as revisiting past treasures. With its focus on innovation, Barco is keenly-aligned with our mission to elevate the art of cinema to a higher plane, continually pushing the bounds of creativity with cutting-edge technology” commented Julie Huntsinger, Tom Luddy and Gary Meyer - Telluride Film Festival Directors.

“We are honored to provide the Telluride Film Festival with projectors that present the brightest, clearest images on screen to dramatically showcase the creative vision of today's filmmakers. Our latest products are supporting a new genre of innovative content, enabling world-class cinematographers to expand their horizons and achieve new paradigms in movie presentation,” commented Todd Hoddick, VP Digital Cinema North America.
